Ref: Participation in the online survey: “The causes and effects of skilled artisan shortages in South African construction firms.”

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to request your assistance with an important research project, “The causes and effects of skilled artisan shortages in South African Construction firms,” being conducted by myself, Kanyisile Tunzi, a Bachelor of Science Honours in Quantity Surveying student at Nelson Mandela University.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the causes and effects of skilled artisan shortages in Small and Medium Construction firms, and the relationship between the causes and effects. Your participation in this study will help the construction industry professionals, especially in Small and Medium construction firms to have a better understanding of what causes skilled artisan shortages and how those causes affect Small and Medium construction firms. Your participation will also increase the reliability of my results.

You were selected to be part of this study because you are a Construction Manager that works in a construction firm registered under CIDB level 2-6. I believe this is a busy time of the year for you. Therefore, I humbly request your participation which should not take more than  5-10 minutes to complete.

To complete the survey online please follow the online survey instructions. If you do not have dependable Internet access or prefer to answer the questionnaire on paper, you may request a paper survey by sending an e-mail to the e-mail address below.

As a token of our appreciation for your participation in this important study, we will e-mail you the conference paper (12 pages) and the YouTube presentation (15 minutes) of the research findings at the end of the research.

There is no risk involved, and your answers will be completely confidential. Moreover, the results of the survey will be reported in a summary format so that no one will be able to associate you with your responses to this survey. Participation is strictly voluntary, and you may refuse to participate or discontinue participation at any time.

If you do decide to participate in the research, please endeavour to complete the questionnaire by 27 November 2020.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this important research. If you have any questions about the administration of the survey, please contact me at 0735523135 or khanyisiletunzi@gmail.com
