RE: THE EFFECTS OF THE DECLINING SOUTH AFRICAN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

I am a BSc Honours Quantity Surveying student at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I am required to complete a research treatise based on a topic relating to the construction industry to fulfil the requirements of my degree. My treatise is titled “The decline of the South African construction industry and the effects thereof on socio-economic development”. The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of the construction industry decline on socio-economic factors such as economic and infrastructure development, employment, household income and housing.

I kindly ask that you complete the questionnaire which should take you 10-15 minutes. There is no risk involved and your answers will be kept confidential. Moreover, the results of the survey will be reported in a summary format so that no one will be able to associate you with your responses to this survey.
